Meet the newest SHABBY GIRL!

Thank you to everyone who took the time out of your busy schedules this past week to submit cards and projects for our Design Team Call!  We had such a wonderful array of creations submitted ... it was very difficult to choose just ONE person to join our team.  You are all so talented and amazing!

Although we only had one spot open for this mid-term replacement DT spot, rest assured that the Shabby Girls had so much fun perusing all of your wonderful submissions.  If you submitted for this DT Call, but were not chosen, please check back with us after the first of the year.  The current DT term will expire in March, so we will no doubt be doing another call and looking for some talented, shabby designers to join our fun little crafty family this spring!

So, without further ado, here is the announcement you all have been waiting for!!  Our DT call asked for you all to create a card or project inspired by this stunning photo:

The red and white color palette is so crisp and clean and I love how it plays against the sparkle of the glass ornaments and glass stemware on the table!  The flowers and berries in the centerpiece are beautiful and I love how they match up with the little rings around each candle in the beautiful light fixture!

The RUNNER UP entry is the wonderful and shabby banner decoration ...

designed by EMILY HUGHES!  I just {heart} everything about this sweet banner - from the papers and inking to the seam binding, buttons and flowers - gorgeous!  The Shabby Girls would love to invite Emily to Guest Design with us during week #46 in the Tea Room :)

DRUM ROLL, please!  The 1st place winning entry is this absolutely stunning glass snow globe decoration ...

... and the winning designer and new Shabby Girl is MELISSA BOVE!

CONGRATULATIONS, Melissa, and welcome to The Shabby Tea Room Design Team!  We're so happy to have you join the Shabby Girls :)

A big thanks again to all who entered ... we really love that you took the time and energy during these busy days leading up to the big Christmas holdiay to submit for our shabby little DT call!  Your time, efforts and talents mean the world to all of the Shabby Girls!

A Shabby Design Team Call!

Please click HERE if you are looking for this week's current challenge - 'Tis The Season'!

THE SHABBY TEA ROOM DESIGN TEAM CALL:

It is with a sad heart that I announce that our sweet, Shabby Girl, Lisa Golzbein, has decided to step down from the DT for the time being.  She has a few personal things on her plate that need attending to ... and family always comes first!  I wish Lisa every happiness and best wishes ... I can speak for all the Shabby Girls when I say that we will miss her smiling face and pretty creations!

So, what this means is that we are one Shabby Girl short and are holding an impromptu DT Call this week!  Please read over the requirements for the open Design Team position, and if you are in agreement with all, then please continue to read this post for the instructions on how to submit!

DT requirements:
  • Make one DT project per week based off of the current challenge theme.  You will have the opportunity to work with products and supplies donated by our kind sponsors.  If you have a conflict and choose not to accept any free products, that is perfectly fine, but please let me know up front.
  • Have a blog and actively post projects.
  • Comment on our fabulous followers' submissions weekly.
  • Be able to meet deadlines, post your projects to our DT Group, create challenge themes.
  • Post your DT project on your personal blog weekly and link back to TSTR and the Shabby Girls.
  • Most important ... to be a Shabby Girl you have to like to have fun and LOVE to paper craft!!
That's about it!  Easy peesy, right??  If this sounds like something you are interested in, here is how you can submit your work by following these two easy steps:

Step #1 - Please prepare one NEW card or project based off of this inspiration photo and created specifically for The Shabby Tea Room Design Team Call:

You may use the colors, theme or both!  Please have fun with this and submit your BEST work!  Remember, only our name is shabby ... BUT I do have a very soft spot for anything vintage and shabby, so I will take this into consideration when filing the open DT spot!!  You may enter as many times as you wish.

Step #2 - After you've completed your project, please send me an e-mail with your design attached along with your contact info, including mailing address and phone number, and blog your address - put 'The Shabby Tea Room DT Call' in the subject line.  Please list any current Design Team spots you are active with (DT experience is not a requirement) along with a short description of your design style and paper crafting experience!

This Design Team call will run from Monday, December 6th at 12 am through Sunday, December 12th at 11:59 pm.  I will contact the new Shabby Girl on Monday, December 13th and your term will begin immediately and run until March 14, 2011 ... with the option to renew your term for an additional six months if all the terms of the DT requirments have been completely satisfied.

Any questions, please feel free to contact me!  Good luck to everyone who chooses to submit for this DT Call!  We cannot wait to see your creations!!  Have FUN!!!

Week #39 - 'Tis The Season!

I am your host this week for the #39 challenge, and I have chosen the theme of  'Tis The Season' for us all to play along with this week!  What I'd love to see you create is a holiday gift item or gift set.  Now this is really open for interpretation ... maybe you'll make someone a handmade card or set of cards ... maybe you'll make a plate of homemade cookies with a little gift tag ... maybe you'll be inspired by the Shabby Girls and come up with a gift that will knock our socks off!  We cannot wait to see what you all create :)

Here are a couple of inspiration photos to get your creative juices flowing and kick start your mojo ...

Week #37 - Pick a Cause'

Week #37 in the Tea Room brings Nicole as our host and she has chosen the theme of 'Pick a Cause' for us to play with!  What does this mean?  At this time of celebration of the Thanksgiving holiday here in the US and preparation for all the amazing celebrations to come in December with all the religious holidays we all celebrate, we here in the Tea Room are so very thankful for all our blessings ... including all of YOU :)

This week we would love to see you all pick a favorite charity, organization or cause and make a card to celebrate it!  If you don't have a favorite charity or cause, the Shabby Girls have each chosen a cause to work with and you may use one of ours!  Please visit the individual Shabby Girls' blogs to read more about each individual charity or organization.  They are all wonderful and so worthwhile!
If you're interested in sending the creation you design into the charity that you are playing for, please contact the individual Shabby Girls if you need more details or mailing instructions.  Each Shabby Girl will have a link to the organization she is playing for this week, so it's really easy to create and send too!

The 'rules' this week will be really loose ... pretty much anything goes!  Have fun with this challenge -- we can't wait to see what you create!  Will it be a Card for Kids with a child's theme?  Will it be a Card for our Troops with a holiday theme?  Will is be a Card for anemia, breast cancer, prevention of cruelty to animals, ALS, MS, adoption ... the sky's the limit!  Anything goes!  Be sure to tell us which charity or organization you are designing for in your post :)
